Price Horse Central – 3/21/10 – California Comments and Suggestions

Santa Anita Park

Race 1:  Pass note that T Baze ends up on Punctual (5).  Jt combos 1, 3, 4, 5

Race 2:  Probable pass but Sea Rascal should benefit from cutback and have some late kick in race with a few that want to gun.  Would need all of ML of 8/1 to play as horse has obvious problems and would need to run best race to win this.  JT combos 1, 3, 6.

Race 3:  Pass tough race but if playing the Bafferts would give a slight lean to higher ML Toro Bonito (1) as JT combo hot and have actually been striking with prices lately.  JT combos 1, 2, 4, 5, 6, 7.

Race 4:  Pass another tough race with no edge for me.  JT combo 3

Race 5:  Pass guessing game race in which those who have run are not monsters and those making first start do not come from barns that win right out of the shoot.  JT combos 3, 6.

Race 6:  See Daily for comment on longshot Vikkilee (5) Truman is busy today and has two with money rider Bejarano up.  Forever My Love (2) is the first of these and will sue in exotics with price horse.  JT combos 2, 4.

Race 7:  Pass but note second of two Truman/Bejarano specials Poker Dave (2) runs in this at 5/2.  We played him on 1/31 at a price.  No value today.  JT combos 2, 3,5 6

Race 8:  Tuscan Evening (3) is worthy favorite.  If taking a shot, perhaps Cat by the Tale (8) at 4/1 or better would be a value play.  Jt combos 3, 8

Race 9:  From the not impossible longshot department in Day with Desi (3) which showed some speed last time under bug and no stretches out in a relatively paceless field.  Am looking for a 30 dollar winner here for low profile trainer.  Jt combos (all short priced logical contenders) 6, 7, 8

Race 1:  Pass Jt combos 3, 4, 6

Race 2:  Pass JT combos 2, 3, 4, 5

Race 3:  Pass  JT combos 34, 5

Race $:  Advance Ticket (2) goes for super team.  Need 7/2 to play.  Jt combos 2, 3, 4, 5

Race 5:  At 6/1 or better, might take shot with River Ranch (6) who goes for Morey who fires early and uses new kid in town.  JT Combos 1, 2, 7

Race 6:  At 6/1 or better, will consider Contessa’s Image for Morey andMartinez first off the claim.  JT combos 2,3, 4,6

Race 7: Kateinthefastlane (8)  shiops up and drops for Sherman who has had the horse from a few weeks and puts bug on it.  Looking for 4/1.  JT combo 8

Race 8:  Pass.  JT  combos  1,2, 5, 6

Race 9:  Pass Jt combo 1

I was born and raised in Chicago. I first went to old Sportsman's Park in Chicago in 1968 and have been hooked ever since. In the 90's I published Sherlock's Trainer Report which reported on trainer patterns on the California circuits. In the interim, my involvement with this game has been as a fan and wagerer. I study human intention and proficiency. At the track, this often takes the form of changes in a horse's condition or its rider. I look for price horses. I do this by examining factors that the public minimizes. Find a horse that you like that the public should not and you might have a value play. I also employ a methodology that focuses on horses that have a good chance of landing in the exacta. While many of these are chalk horses, an occasional price horse pops up. These exacta horses, which are listed here everyday, run first or second at least 40% of the time. In a game where 20% is a high batting average, the possibilities are endless.
